The Bishops Storehouse and Babysitting

The Bishops Storehouse

On Friday we fulfilled an assignment to work at the Bishops Storehouse in Atlanta.
These are all volunteers that helped to load several trucks and trailers with food and commodities .   The food is delivered to various distribution sites throughout the state and then disbursed to the poor and needy under the direction of the various bishops.

This site is actually a distribution center for the Southeast Region of the United States.
That is a long way to the other end of the building.

Besides the food and commodities, there is also a large supply of emergency equipment and material that can be deployed in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.
This is one of the tractor/trailer rigs.
Mission Rules

Last week I gave a short description of the missionary handbook.  Actually senior missionaries, like ourselves, do not have to follow the same rules as the young missionaries.  Our schedule is quite flexible and we are fairly independent.
While at the Missionary Training Center we were told that page 2 has the rules for senior couples.

Missionaries

Missionaries come in different sizes also.
Elder Hatch is 5' 4" and Elder Putnum is 7' 0".

Future missionaries

This week we did babysitting for several children while their parents had the opportunity to attend the temple and perform the ordinances in Portuguese.  We used a multi-purpose room located right next to the Atlanta Temple.

It is always amazing to me that these kids can talk both Portuguese and English.

The Family

The feminine mystic.
Aunt Lisa is showing some of the finer points of fingernail polishing to Victoria while Roman looks on.

The Missionary Couple of the Week

Sister and Elder Mourdock serve as mental wellness missionaries here in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission.
They actually are from the Atlanta area and live in their own home.

Missionary life is wonderful!!
