A Special Family

A Special Family

Luciano and Suzi Aires with their children José, Yasmin and Helena.  They are from Goiás, Brazil.
Yesterday we worked with the family and cleaned the chapel.  We are touched by their dedication to the Gospel, their willingness to work hard, and their desire to  build a better life for their children.

Luciano has a business cleaning windows and Suzi works as a house cleaner.  Like many immigrants they work long hours.  Since they do not know English, they have asked us to teach them and we have a class with them one night a week.  Fortunately they can practice with their children who can speak English very well.  In addition to their busy work schedules, Luciano serves as the second counselor in the branch presidency and Suzi serves in the primary.  During their spare time, they serve as ordinance workers in the Atlanta Temple every week.
Both of them have strong testimonies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
José has an ever present smile on his face.

The Missionary Couple of the Week

We met Elder and Sister Jones at the Mission Training Center when we started our mission.
They are serving as humanitarian aid missionaries in Belarus.

This week we would like to emphasize that great scripture found in Mark 12:28-31 which reads as follows:

28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  There is none other commandment greater than these.

With each passing week, we continue to realize that our relationships with God and our neighbors are more important than anything else.  We are so grateful for our mission that gives us the opportunity to extend our relationships and love to so many of Heavenly Father's children.
