A Year of Thankfulness

Thanksgiving in Cabo Verde

We are thankful for our mission.
We often feel that we are blessed more than those whom we serve.

How thankful we are for the dedication of these young men who give two years of their lives to bring others to Christ.
Elder Flake and Elder Adriano receiving a special Thanksgiving treat.

Also a special thanks to the many sisters who brave the challenges of their mission.
Sister Pereira and Sister Rowen

We are thankful for those individuals that give of their time and service to improve the life of those less fortunate than they.
Dr. Michael Bullard, an eye surgeon, and his wife Andrea have arrived this weekend in Cape Verde.  He will perform strabismus surgeries this week on approximately 25 individuals, mostly children, as part of a major vision project.  These children will literally be given a new outlook on life.  More information will follow next week.

We are thankful for the young men of Cabo Verde who prepare themselves to pass the sacrament and perform their priesthood duties.
A doctor with many talents.

We are thankful for the friendly people of Cabo Verde that welcome us into their homes.
A woman whom we met today who lives on top of the mountains of Santo Antão.

We are thankful for their happy lives.
They have so little of the comforts of life but so much of that which is important.

We are thankful for the hard working people of Cabo Verde.
This is an 84 year old farmer working in his gardens.  He came up to the wall to ask his neighbor for a drink of water.  His hands tell their own story.

We are thankful for the beauties of this wonderful world.
We are also thankful for beautiful flowers.

We are especially thankful for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We hope and pray that we may be worthy servants of Him who was servant to all.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
