Another busy week in Mindelo on the island of Sao Vicente. This past week we were visited by Elder and Sister Lindsay. They are from Utah and are serving their fourth mission. Currently they are assigned to Frankfurt, Germany at the area office and serve as the area welfare specialists for 15 couples including us. We received a full week of training from them.

The saints are truly a remarkable people on Cape Verde. Below are some pictures. Their dedication and strength in the Gospel is nothing short of miraculous. In less than 30 years over 14,000 members have been baptized and there are now three full stakes on the islands.

Bishop Timoteo from the Mindelo 3rd Ward |
Anibal, Elders Quorum president in the Mindelo 2nd Ward. |
Paulino and Nideane. Paulino is second counselor in the Mindelo 2nd Ward bishopric. |
Moroni and Tatiana, children of Bishop Jose dos Santos of the Mindelo 1st Ward. |
Baptisms are held each Saturday and there is a separate service for each individual ward. We try to attend each service. Currently the stake averages 5 to 10 baptisms each week. Cape Verde is part of the Europe Area (even though it is off the coast of Africa) and leads the area in membership growth.
